- Operates vehicle in a manner that shows safety is a priority

- Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading positions, and checks that vehicle loading and unloading equipment is properly positioned

- Responds to customer complaints and issues in a calm and professional manner
- Obtains receipts or signatures when required
- Checks and documents condition of vehicle at completion of transport
- Documents all mileage and service hours to abide by D.O.T. log regulations
- Describes vehicle condition to Maintenance personnel when repairs are needed
- Completes all other daily responsibilities of a driving professional
- Attends safety meetings and training programs to remain up-to-date on safety policies and procedures, and ensure that recurrent training is complete as required.
Job Description
The Truck Driver is responsible for driving a large tractor-trailer with safety as the first priority. Drivers must remain seated in the driver’s seat for extended periods of time. Vehicle inspections require the Driver to walk, stoop and bend at the knees. (See physical abilities test requirements)
Drivers must work a flexible schedule.
Drivers serve as the company representative when towing and interacting with customers, and are expected to treat customers with courtesy and respect at all times. Drivers interact with other Drivers on a minimal basis.
Work Performance
To meet excellent performance standards, Drivers must report to work on time and respond to calls within a specific time. Drivers must maintain an excellent safety record with no preventable accidents. Drivers are expected to interact with customers in a pleasant manner, and to remain calm and professional in all situations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license in the state he/she resides
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- HAZMAT and Tanker Endorsements preferred
- Ability to obtain a TWIC Card preferred
- Acceptable driving record meeting company hiring standards, verified through a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- 2 years driving experience
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to pass a pre-hire driving test
- Ability to pass a D.O.T. level physical and drug/alcohol test
- Ability to pass physical abilities test
- Knowledge of traffic laws, rules and regulations
- Customer-service oriented
- Demonstrates characteristics of a team player
- Oral and written communication skills
- Neat, clean personal appearance
